The calculations use the US Navy Method for body fat (based on neck, waist, hip and gender) and combine with BMI and estimated water content. The tracker then estimates body fat percentage, fat-free mass, and total body water (using commonly accepted formulas: for males body fat % = 86.010 * log10(waist - neck) - 70.041 * log10(height) + 36.76; for females = 163.205 * log10(waist + hip - neck) - 97.684 * log10(height) - 78.387). These are validated equations used in health assessments. Lean mass is derived by subtracting fat weight from total weight; hydration is estimated as a percentage of lean mass (about 73%).
